Do you grind your teeth or clench your jaw in your sleep? Michelle Sands, the Sleep Director here at Silent Night Therapy, explained in the Nassau Standard that teeth grinding or clenching may be caused by an underlying sleep apnea condition. She pointed out that it is important to evaluate patients for sleep apnea before fitting them with overnight mouth guards because “using the wrong appliance can exacerbate the apnea condition, with studies indicating a potential worsening of at least 40% or more.”

At Silent Night Therapy we offer a variety of sleep apnea tests and treatments.
